Seasonal pest
Mosquitoes
Backyard mosquito pressure from irrigation ditches, canals, and low pasture ground.
How to Identify Mosquitoes
Sanpete and Juab Counties' irrigation canals, ditches, and pasture ground give mosquitoes plenty of places to breed within flying distance of most yards. Activity typically runs from May through September and peaks around dawn, dusk, and calm evenings.
Signs You May Have a Problem
- Bites accumulating during evening yard time
- Standing water in gutters, buckets, tarps, or low spots after irrigation
- Increased activity near shaded, tall-grass, or brushy areas of the yard
Why It Matters
Beyond the nuisance, mosquitoes in Utah can carry West Nile virus, which makes seasonal control worth taking seriously, not just an evening annoyance. Our barrier and larvicide program targets both the resting sites and the standing water your family can't always drain on its own.
